Are you looking for Holiday events to do with your family in Southern New England? Rhode Island and Massachusetts has so many festive events to choose from. From tree lightings to Christmas festivals and Holiday Shows, Southern New England has it all. 

 

Ice Skating is a classic winter family activity. There are several indoor rinks in the area, but starting in late December - Early March experience the joy of outdoor ice skating at the Providence Rink in Providence, RI. In addition to traditional ice skating, they offer ice bumper cars. Located right in the heart of downtown Providence.

 

Providence is home to some beautiful theaters that host Holiday Shows each year. The Nutcracker is held at The Veterans Memorial Theater each season. The Vets is a small theater, with no bad seat in the house with a variety of shows year round. The Trinity Rep  is home to A Christmas Carol. Going to see A Christmas Carol at The Trinity Rep theater has become a yearly tradition for so many families in the area.

 

The Rosecliff Mansion in Newport, RI also hosts The Nutcracker each year. It is done in such unique way and with the glorious setting of the mansion.

Bristol, RI Christmas Festival, Tree Lighting & Grand Illumination. Bristol hosts a 2-day Christmas festival at Unity Park, there is a trolley to bring attendees around the downtown district and Herreshoff Marine Museum for Holiday Shopping at the museum. The tree lighting & grand illumination is held the weekend of the Christmas Festival, Santa & Mrs.Claus arrive in town for the event.

 

Christmas Festival of Lights at the National Shrine of La Salette in Attleboro, MA is a beautiful sight that shouldn't be missed. The lights are on every night from 5:00pm-9:00pm from the end of November to January 1st. This is a free event; however there is a gift shop, amusements and food available to purchase.

 

Magic of Lights in Foxboro, MA is a drive through incredible holiday lights experience at Gillette Stadium. There are millions of lights on display including the 200ft long enchanted tunnel of lights. 

 

Festival of Lights at Edaville Railroad in Carver, MA. Spend an evening with the family exploring the Festival of Lights at Edaville. Take the train through the park for the incredible holiday lights display. The kids can visit Santa Claus and enjoy the unlimited amusement rights. 

 

Take a ride on the Polar Express to the North Pole. There are many options for the Polar Express, Blackstone Valley Polar Express is one of the most popular ones. Wear your PJs and enjoy hot chocolate and a cookie, and get a visit from Santa. Tickets sell out fast so plan early. Cape Cod Central Railroad also does the Polar Express where Santa and his elves board the train at the North Pole and each guest is given the first gift of Christmas. Each child takes home a keepsake sleigh bell and a souvenir golden ticket.
